Personally, I’m someone who would be perfectly happy wearing neutrals during any season throughout the year. Neutral pieces always classy and easy to style, and they make a great base element for any outfit. Each season presents new ways to style neutrals, which allows me to add a fun twist to my normal neutral style!
For spring, light jackets are an absolute must have. Growing up in Chicago, spring weather could be pretty hard to predict—some days were gorgeous, some days were freezing, and some days were a mix of the two. I always packed a light jacket with me, no matter what I was doing, to make sure that I was prepared for any changes in weather that might come my way.
I also love espadrilles for spring. They bring beachy thoughts and get me excited for the summer months ahead. There are tons of way to wear them; everyone loves a classic espadrille sandal, and espadrille sneakers were absolutely everywhere last spring.
The two pieces that I’m highlighting in today’s Save vs. Splurge comparison are a light, Free People-inspired, quilted jacket and classy Chanel-inspired espadrilles from Target.
As you look at the outfits side-by-side, it’s striking just how similar the pieces are! I love the neutral colors and the way that they work together, and I love the comparative savings even more!
The Free People version of my $35 Target jacket is $198 with very minimal design differences. The difference in the prices of the espadrille shoes is even more striking. The cute and comfy Target version is only $29, and the Chanel version is $725.
I’m all about nice things, but definitely prefer to spend less on trendy pieces that may not be in style next year or when I want to give a trend a try. I love both of these pieces and am super impressed with the quality, so I will be sticking with the chic, inexpensive Target options this spring.
Want to grab any of these pieces for yourself? I have them both linked on my LIKEtoKNOW.it profile. Thank you so, so much for reading!
